Representatives
from the Texas Hospital Association and Texas Nurses Association
met last week with the editorial board of the Houston Chronicle
to ask the newspaper to support Senate bill 572.
The bill, sponsored

Bush budget
recommends grants that focus on shortage
The American
Nurses Association recently applauded President Bush for his commitment
to addressing the nursing shortage in his proposed budget.
Bush recommends
funneling resources to the Health Professions grants that focus
on the shortage.
ANA President
Mary Foley, MS, RN, said that she applauded Bush's commitment to
funding initiatives and that her organization looks forward to working
with the administration and Congress.
To further convey
that nurses and patients are at risk in today's hospitals, the United
American Nurses are sponsoring a Staffing Crisis Lobby Day on June
26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nurses will take their message to Capitol
Hill in Washington, D.C.
