Judith Surveyer Mitiguy, RN, MS, has been appointed senior vice president of editorial services/editor in chief at Nursing Spectrum. In her position as Nursing Spectrum’s top editor, Mitiguy will play a vital role on the executive team, set editorial strategy and art direction, and lead the way to excellence in nursing journalism. Mitiguy and her team are responsible for creating the editorial content for Nursing Spectrum’s 12 regional print publications, which include four NurseWeek titles; several specialty publications; and the company’s websites.

Mitiguy earned both her master of science in communication and her master of science in nursing from Boston University. She is a prolific author and seasoned editor and speaker. A nurse to the core, Mitiguy has written articles and textbook pieces on brain injury, burn nursing, family care, and nursing leadership. She has earned prestigious journalism awards from Sigma Theta Tau International, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and the American Medical Writers Association. Before holding positions of increasing responsibility at Nursing Spectrum since 2000, Mitiguy worked as health care communication specialist at Children’s Hospital in Boston, editor of BayState Nurse News, and faculty member in the writing center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She has held clinical nurse specialist, nurse manager, supervisor, staff nurse, and nursing faculty positions, and she started her career as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy Nurse Corps.
