A new Web site is asking for more than just a password it’s
asking for DNA.
DNA.com,
the Web site of DNA Sciences, invites visitors to donate DNA by
enrolling in the Gene Trust Project.
The
donations are to help the company in its research on genetic variation
and disease.
Volunteers
are asked to give medical history information, and if their profiles
match the company’s needs, they are told how and where to give a
blood sample.
The
company does not compensate donors, but encourages people to volunteer
to help play a role in developing new treatments for diseases.
