Tips
for using
the NurseWeek/HealthWeek
e-mail job alert
>You must fill out ALL fields on the registration form.
>You must choose either html or plain text. If you do not know which to choose, select plain text. Most e-mail programs use this format, and it will work with all such programs.
>Make sure that YOUR e-mail address is correct. If you omit or insert a letter or number, you will not receive the alerts and we will have no way to contact you.
>Keywords: You may list as many keywords as you want. Do not separate the words with commas or periods, use only a single space between words. This is a simple (non-Boolean) search, so compound words will not be searched for. For example, if you list "nurse practitioners," you will get ALL instances of "nurse" and ALL instances of "practitioners."
>For best results, you should use the simplest form of each word. If you are looking for nurse practitioner positions, search for the word "practitioner." If you search for "practitioners," you will only get listings which use the plural form of the word. However, searching for "practitioner" will give you any instances of the singular or plural forms of the word.
>Many advertisers use abbreviated forms of the word(s) you may be looking for. For example, to find jobs for pediatric nurses, you should type "ped" in the keyword field. Listing "ped" will give you all occurrences of "ped," "peds," "pedi," "pediatric," and "pediatrics." If you list "pediatrics," you will not get listings where the advertiser has used abbreviated forms of the word.
>Do not use words like "nurse," "nursing," or "medical," unless you want a very long list of ads sent to you.
>You may need to experiment a bit to find the ads that you want. If you find you are not getting the ads you want, go to the form and change your keywords. You may also go to the job listing search and try out a few keyword searches BEFORE you decide which words to choose for your e-mail alerts. You can find these search pages at:
