This tip can save you hours of searching for pictures
to supplement presentations and educational materials.
When you need a picture or illustration, visit www.google.com.
Under the Google banner is a bar with five different
tabs. Click on the "Images" tab and type in
what you want a picture of. Google then searches for
pictures that match your request and the results are
displayed in a thumbnail format.
Click on the image to view it larger. Each image is
accompanied by information and a link to its original
Web page. The pictures appear to be filtered so if you
enter the name of a body part, you get medical and anatomical
pictures, not pornography.
Amy Otis, RN, was in a family nurse practitioner graduate
program when a bout with Lyme disease left her partially
paralyzed on her left side. This paralysis, along with
systemic lupus erythematosus and fibromyalgia, made
traditional nursing impossible for Otis.
In April 2000, she decided she would continue to share
her love of nursing and teaching and launched www.coolnurse.com.
Designed to provide health information for teenagers,
the site became a hit and Otis receives hundreds of
letters every week from teenagers and their parents.
Easy to use, this site provides information about first
aid, mental health, sex, substance abuse, tattoos, body
piercing and other relevant topics. Otis' mission is
to help teens and young adults achieve and maintain
a high level of health and fitness. Otis designed the
site, including the graphics, writes HTML and manages
it.
