Overview: Perioperative nurses care for patients before, during and after surgery. The specialty includes scrub nurses (who work directly with surgeons, passing instruments and supplies to
them within the sterile field), circulating nurses (who work outside the sterile field), and RN first assistants (who deliver direct surgical care).
