The goal is to find a nursing job or career that utilizes your
unique set of skills, talents and abilities. The career process
is similar to the nursing process, which includes assessment,
planning, implementation and evaluation, and they parallel each
other, as you will see when you use the career-planning model

Assessment
Assess your skills, competencies, accomplishments,
values, interests, preferences, volunteer activities.

Planning
Research hospitals, organizations,specialties,
jobs, higher education, professional associations, certifications, Internet,
books, periodicals, journals. Create an
action plan.

Implementation
Network. Set up informational interviews. Clarify
options. Identify job objectives. Set short-term goals.
Job search
1. Write a resume, cover letter.
2. Prepare references
3. Generate interviews
4. Negotiate
5. Accept Offer

Evaluation
Review and analyze process. Do a self-appraisal.
